“Life Begins at the End of your Comfort Zone.” This little sign hangs as a source for inspiration in the house of the moustache at 91 Hope Street.
The message is a positive reminder of the path that led to the creation of Chez Moustache. Although relatively uncomplicated and petite, creating Chez Moustache still required the facing of fears and the overcoming of obstacles.
We learned that no matter how big or small the goal – seeking any path outside of the comfort zone can be both scary and exciting. Finding inspiration while walking this path is vital and can even become the catalyst for achieving the goal.
When embarking on the journey of creating Chez Moustache we found inspiration all around. We are blessed to have so many entrepreneurial spirited friends and family who encouraged Chez Moustache.
A source of inspiration that also encouraged our journey came from a documentary series discovered on the Internet entitled “Failure Club.” This program was brought to life by Morgan Spurlock, the documentarian that created “Super Size Me” and “30 Days.”
The series examines the fear of failure and follows seven New Yorkers through their journey in pursuit of their dreams. Dreams and goals consisting of everything from a man who wanted to build his own motorcycle, to a woman with stage freight who dreamed of pursuing stand up comedy. The seven figures were inspiration in and of themselves for being publicly brave enough to share their dreams, failures and embarrassments.
In particular we became captivated with Ignacio Quiles. Ignacio’s goal was to open a haberdashery and design a men’s clothing line. This was an immediate attraction, not only because Ignacio was a “Dandy,” but also because his dream complimented that of Chez Moustache. Which is to create something befitting a true gentleman. Following his journey in this video series became something to look forward to, and a catalyst of sorts for continuing that journey outside of the comfort zone.
As serendipity would have it we had the opportunity to meet Ignacio. We literally bumped into him at the RISDI Exhibit “Artist/Rebel/Dandy: Men of Fashion.” We immediately hit it off.
They say when two minds come together a 3rd is created. Thus, we’ve married Ignacio’s haberdashery QP & Monty with Chez Moustache in a one time weekend event to take place in June.
Chez Moustache is pleased to host a pop up shop with dandy haberdasher, stylist and designer Ignacio Quiles at 91 Hope Street in Providence, RI on June 14-15th. We are still working out the details, but there will be lots of men’s clothing, both vintage and original designs. There will also be Sartorial Pairings, ties, bow ties and other fine men’s items.
Come by for some great shopping, to tour Chez Moustache, meet Ignacio or simply to pick up a little inspiration!
